Brunch Spots to Let The Moms Out this Mother’s Day

Tatiana Magana

For this Mother’s Day, we’re providing you with a list of diverse restaurants and bars to keep mom filled with love, food, and booze. Whether she likes a traditional American-style brunch with eggs benedicts and mimosas or if she’s a momma who likes a bit of assortment in her life, we’ve chosen 4 different locations that you can take her out to on her special day. Enjoy!

Claire’s At the Museum
2300 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Starting with Long Beach’s very own local art museum and restaurant, Claire’s At the Museum should be every mom’s drink destination spot. Although already at capacity, they will be offering limited walk-in tables for their 9 am service so make sure to call them at their hostess line that morning. For $59, they will have an all-you-can-eat buffet set up inside their beautifully crafted establishment that features original wood and artwork. The buffet will include an omelet, carving, seafood and oyster bar, a dessert station, and vegan options for our moms who don’t indulge in meaty options. If you aren’t able to get a reservation they will be offering a champagne bar, photo booth, free family art making, and live music on their oceanfront view courtyard as well as free valet parking available to anyone. So grab Mom, a mimosa and walk around their beautifully curated art museum (which is only $12 per person).

Crooked Duck
5096 CA-1, Long Beach, CA 90804
8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Our second traditional but by far ordinary restaurant on the list is Crooked Duck. Neighborhood friend and owner of 12 years, Joey Rooney, will be serving up nothing but the best for our special moms, such as his classic chili verde, slow braised pork omelet in a tomatillo sauce, and his salsa verde baby back ribs which are very known to sell out quickly. Although, reservations are not required be sure to get here early and revel in the early morning with their special “Mother’s Day Mimosa” (a strawberry sorbet
mimosa garnished with a fresh strawberry). This brunch party will go from 8 am until 2:30 pm, so see you then!

Jade On The Water
6380-A E Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90803
10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Is mom not craving the usual? Head over to the Marina and check out Jade On The Water. They will be serving a prix fixed menu for $37 that includes one choice of their starters, an entree, dessert, a side, and of course a glass of bubbly. With many options to choose from, I recommend going with the creamy cheese wontons, their crunchy yet savory Chinese chicken salad, a fresh cup of fruit, and finishing it off with a sweet set of mochis to pair with your champagne. Jade will be open at 10:30 a.m. for the moms that like to sleep in. Stop by and enjoy the water at your periphery, live music in your ear, and a glass of champagne in your hand. Reservations are highly suggested.
Location: 6380-A E Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90803

El Barrio Cantina
1731 E 4th Street, Long Beach, CA 90802
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

My Mexican mommas raise your hands if you are present! For our pick in Latin food, we are recommending El Barrio Cantina. Whether you celebrate Mexican Mother’s Day or American Mother’s Day, there will be special events for both. On Wednesday, May 10th at 5:30 pm, El Barrio Cantina will be hosting a special dinner collaboration with Battambong BBQ. Cambodian Chef Chad and Mexican Chef Ulises will be combining two beautiful heritages and turning them into an unforgettable night. On Sunday, El Barrio Cantina will also be throwing their first ever Mariachi Brunch Buffet, reservations are highly recommended so you can either give them a call or book here. Tickets will be reasonably priced at $35 and the duration will be 90 minutes long. Traditional yet delicious Mexican staples will be included such as rice, beans, tortillas, a salsa bar, coffee bar, waffle de elote, chilaquiles (my personal favorite), chorizo, Mexican quiche, and a pastry bar. Although drinks are not included in the buffet, you know they will be having specials for our daring mamas, especially the ones who like their tequila and mezcal. So come on down to 4th Street, listen and sing along to their live performance by Mariachi Romanza and remind your kids that you can still have fun.
