MARIACHI ESPECTACULAR

As part of its monthly Mayapalooza events, Hotel Maya presents its Maya-Achis – with the “Mariachi Espectacular” mariachi band for guests’ dancing, singing, clapping and fun on Sunday, December 17 from 12-3 p.m. Mariachi Espectacular, directed by Grammy Nominated Engineer and Producer Oscar Villa, is the official all-male mariachi of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, performing year-round at the parks. For the past eight years, they have performed in the Disneyland Viva Navidad Holiday Parade. Comprising the best male mariachi musicians in Southern California, Mariachi Espectacular performs extensively throughout the United States and Mexico.

The music of the ancient Mayan courts is described throughout native and Spanish 16th-century texts and is depicted in the art of the Classic Period (200–900 AD). The Maya played instruments such as trumpets, flutes, whistles, and drums, and used music to accompany funerals, celebrations, and other rituals.

Guests and visitors are encouraged to eat, drink and celebrate the Mayan culture while enjoying brunch and Mariachi Espectacular.
