Event Details

The Long Beach Airport will host a free presentation on its recent report, “Long Beach Airport and Southern California: A Brief New Aviation and Aeronautics History (1900s-1980s).” Join authors Dr. Alison Rose Jefferson and Dr. Philip S. Hart will discuss significant milestones in Long Beach’s rich aviation history, including the establishment of our municipal airport, and reveals some of the lesser-known stories about women and about Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous and other persons of color who contributed greatly to the field of aviation in Southern California.

The venue for this event is the Billie Jean King Library located at 200 W. Broadway, Long Beach. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 6 p.m.
