This beginner-friendly workshop will introduce the timeless art of still life in the traditional media of charcoal. Utilizing a physical still-life arrangement, this class is meant to encourage further interest and enjoyment in the subject by introducing basic principles of drawing.

This Adult ArtMaking workshop is open to participants 55+ to cultivate community and creativity. Those with all levels of art experience are welcome.

All materials will be provided. Light refreshments will be available.

The best way to learn how to watercolor is to pick up a paintbrush and do it! In this all-levels class participants will be given multiple entry points on how they want to approach their painting. Whether you want to try watercoloring an object from observation, learn how to trace an image or you just want to paint the wiggles and squiggles that represent your feelings, this class is for you.

Facilitator Information

Rebekah Rose is queer a illustrator and muralist living on Tongva Land (aka Long Beach). They received their BFA in Illustration from California State University Long Beach in 2021. Their artwork centers queerness, and uplifts the importance of mental health, mindfulness and inclusion.

Their style is heavily influenced by their ten years of experience teaching trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness and their ever present sense of humor. They firmly believe in the healing power of art to transform lives, whether it is through the act of creative self-expression or the sense of belonging that can come from seeing yourself reflected in someone else’s work. When facilitating art workshops Rebekah places emphasis being present with the experience of creation and the benefits of making art for personal wellbeing and community connection.
